Under its legislation and through arrangements with the Department of Education and Connect Youth, the Youth Council is empowered to assist programmes for children and young people by awarding grants.

The largest scheme is Core Grant and between them accounting for approximately £1.5M per annum. Core Grant support the infrastructure of the agency.

Core Grant is awarded for a period of three years. All organisations in receipt of grant will be subject to monitoring and evaluation.
